Cask from the brewery at Escondido World Bistro and Gardens.
Appearance: Dark brown pour, and a bit hazy, much closer to a porter or stout in appearance, smallish head, especially compared to the year round Sublimely Self-Righteous. Overall a good look.
Smell: Very good smell, some sweetness, but there is definitely a hint of cumin and the pepper peaks through occasionally.
Taste: There is a early sweetness to the taste, but then the cumin balances out sweetness, and the cayenne comes in with a big punch in the end. This beer is spicy, to the point where is you question whether you would like the spiciness it is probably not for you. The cumin and cayenne overpower a bit of black IPA-ness of this beer, but for me that was enjoyable.
Overall I really enjoyed this beer, but I imagine that people will either really enjoy this beer or really hate it, I do not think there is much middle ground with it. If I see it again I will definitely be ordering it again.
