Almost entirely unlike an English IPA, from my experience. Hot with alcohol and very dry. I can't actually detect any aroma beyond a fain beeriness. Dishwatery, disturbingly overhopped, and thoroughly unpleasant. Like all of the Stone brews, it's clean and well made, though some adult supervision might be helpful. On tap at LIberty Station.

October 25th, 2013 - The Burton Snatch is unique, and to San Diego, foreign. There's a particular hops character here, and I can see it being quite unwelcome in a part of the country addicted to citrus, stinging hops. The smell reminds me a lot of Lay's potato chips - lightly greasy and salty, with an added layer of caramelization, like a banana flambé. The flavor is slightly sweet, with notes of corn bread with a honeyed glaze, and a lighter palate: unique and good. Going against the grain here, but this is a refreshing change of pace from the typical hop cone to the eye.

First, this is brewed at Liberty Station, Not Escindido....From a 1 liter Growler Fill, drank within 2 hours of fill..I gorgeous golden orange color with a reasonable amount of lacing,, but not much head retention...First smell...hops, vegetables and resin..(not the hop kind)...First sip, the mouthfeel is thicker than expected, with a right up front resiny(hops this time)taste and feel...Again, the vegetal tastes mixing with the hops nicely, very English tasting...The almost 8% alcohol is hidden quite well, I would definitely get this again, a nice solid beer that doesn't need to be 13% to be a great beer.

On tap at the Stone Company Store in Pasadena, CA.

Pours a hazy golden orange with a foamy bone head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, herbal, and onion and garlic hop aromas. Taste is much the same with vegetal hop flavors on the finish. There is a medium amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with very herbal and vegetal hop forward characteristics.
