It was a dark, oily black. Not much head. Just some large bubbles and spotty foam around the outside of the glass.

It smelled sweet/sugary with some subtle chocolate. Nothing offensive, but not really much going on here either.

It tastes a little better, still not much flavor depth on anything that is here though. The maple just barely shows up a little in the aftertaste, but is mainly just sweet with a residual sugar flavor. Bourbon also comes across as more sweet than anything else. Not any wood or grain. Some milk chocolate and cocoa.

Not sure on the age if this in all fairness. I didn't notice any distinct off flavors/infection. Maybe the carbonation seems a tad on the flat side, but it really didn't do much for me. My brother and I didn't finish it between us.

Thanks to GRG1313 for sharing this one at his tasting.

Pours an almost opaque super dark crimson-brown with a foamy khaki head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Tiny dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa, maple, and wood aromas. Taste is much the same with cocoa and maple flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of roast and wood bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with a nice maple presence in the flavor.
