Had on draft.
Pours a shiny pitch black with a thin tan head that dissipated pretty quickly.
Smell is interesting - the sarsaparilla gives it a real root beer or creme soda like smell. Delicate and sweet with hints of almost vanilla. However there is also a roasted malts and slight chocolate aroma that is indicative of a stout.
Taste follows the nose with a strong sarsaparilla flavor that really does make the flavor reminiscent of root beer. However, there are also flavors of roasted malts and chocolate with slight vanilla undertones. However these two flavors come across as two separate flavors and don't necessarily work well together. Plus, its pretty darn sweet overall.
Feel was very nice - thick, smooth, and drinkable. Medium carbonation with a slight sweet coating on the tongue.
Overall a really interesting stout. The sarsaparilla was certainly unique as a flavor - very reminiscent of root beer - still very enjoyable beer. I'd certainly drink this before any hard sodas, but Im not sure I'd necessarily drink this one again.

Love DHB, but this felt more like a leather infused taste than root beer. More Plead the 5th.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
