Notes / Commercial Description:
Being the brewery in the “Real New Zebedee” we thought it best to include a magical beer for this magical movie. Inspired by “The House with a Clock in Its Walls (inspired by a house located here in Marshall)” this beer brings it with some of the main cravings in said house. From Dark Horse Farms we brought in part of our pumpkin harvest for the mash lending a smooth, seasonal mouthfeel to this Porter. From Dark Horse Commons we baked up a good 20 Dozen chocolate chip cookies and pulled those into the boil of this beer just like a warlock should do. With the malt and hops riding a perfect balance like flying a broom over the top of the chocolatey goodness within the layers of this beer we hope you enjoy. Have we shown you everything? Well, not everything…

16 ounce prowler into tulip glass, filled on 1/27/2018. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky tan head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Thick foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, molasses, toffee, pumpkin, cookie dough, fudge, roasted nuts, and toasted dark bread; with lighter notes of vanilla, cream, licorice, dark fruit, smoke, charcoal, herbal, grass, pepper, pine, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/black/roast/bready malts, pumpkin, cookies, and light-moderate earthy hop/fruity yeast notes; with great strength. Taste of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, molasses, toffee, pumpkin, cookie dough, fudge, roasted nuts, and toasted dark bread; with lighter notes of vanilla, cream, licorice, dark fruit, smoke, charcoal, herbal, grass, pepper, pine, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate pine, herbal, grassy, peppery hops; and roast/charcoal bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, molasses, toffee, pumpkin, cookie dough, fudge, roasted nuts, toasted dark bread, vanilla, cream, licorice, dark fruit, smoke, charcoal, herbal, grass, pepper, pine, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/black/roast/bready malts, pumpkin, cookies, and light-moderate earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; with a great hop/roast bitter/sweet balance; and no cloying, acrid, astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering hop/char bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/velvety/bready, and fairly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is fantastic. Minimal warming alcohol for 7%. Overall this is an incredible flavored American porter. All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/black/roast/bready malts, pumpkin, cookies, and light-moderate earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the mellowly bitter/charred/drying finish. Very rich body for the ABV. Amazing well rounded malt complexity; with balanced pumpkin, chocolate chip cookie flavors, and earthy hops against sweetness. A highly enjoyable offering, and amazing spot on American style example. You can really taste the cookies they added to the boil.
