Presentation: 12oz bottle into a glass mug.

A- Dark reddish/brown with ruby edges. Rough pour yields only a ~1/2 finger of tan head. Head dwindles slowly to a ring of bubbles and an thin, oily cap. Minimal lacing

S- Sweet bready caramel. Hints of raisin.

T- Raisin bread sweetness. Moderate to very sweet, but not cloyingly so. A bit of charred caramel bitterness on the finish. Enjoyable.

M- Moderate to slightly low carbonation. Medium-full feeling, and slightly syrupy. Nice malt-centric brew. Very good.

D- Good. Enjoyable flavor....good aroma and feel....easy drinking. 9% ABV? Really? Hard to tell...

Future outlook: My expectations were tempered by the fact that my only other Mad Brewer trial was fairly poor. This one faired much better.

This beer was a pretty decent doppelbock, with some initial strange odors. I'd have it again.

It poured a deep, rich red-brown with decent head formation. Aroma was initially a bit of sour milk (I've gotten this form Doppelbocks before), but that smell sort of seemed to go away after it sat in my glass for a few minutes. It was replaced by sweet toffee aromas. Flavor was full-bodied, caramel-y, and malty. Pretty good. Mouthfeel was full and appropriate.

Pretty good. I'd recommend this. I picked up this bottle from Brew & Brew (just down the street from the Brew Keeper) in North Ridgeville, OH.
