Poured a light seethru copper with minimal lace. An intense grassy hop smell for some reason; mild malt aroma like caramel and roasted; hints of bourbon (the malt smell is strong and funky also). Not well-balanced as the malt sweetness is overpowered by some hop bitterness and it goes down easy but the flavor is muddled.

This is my first american brewed Altbier. It comes pretty close to the original. Tastes like a Diebels. It has a slightly nutty aftertast, dark orange amber colour. I love Richmond (not only) for bringing this to my tastebuds. The Richbrau Brewpub is awsome.

This beer pours a beautiful amber color with little to no head. The smell must be teased out with some stirring, but its reminicent of dark malt extract with a hint of nut. The taste is sugar-like initially, but that subsides soon after the first gulp and gives way to a mostly bitter taste with no real body. The aftertaste has the same sugar notes just like the beginning, but the addition of the bitterness tempers this and it mellows out nicely. This beer is definitely not as sweet as American Brown beers, and contains much more yeast. Overall a decent beer.
