I had this bad boy down in Over-the-Rhine when Barrel House still had a brewpub. This beer went great with the pizzas they were serving and the Marlboros we were smoking. It has a dark color and a roasted taste and scent. It has a great lingering maltiness so far as i can remember(I dont think Barrel House makes this anymore). I liked this beer so much I braved Over-the-Rhine in the dark by myself so I could fill up my growler. Well done Barrel House, well done. Please please build another brewpub!

Excellent Stout. Although the head is short and the mouthfeel a little watery this stout has some very pleasing esters co-mingling with the darker, roasted, maillard notes. A hint of chocolate in with the malt and you're on your way. I truly enjoy this stout. Notice the infinitive case of that last sentence implying the high level of drinkability.

Black as coal with a small head. Slight lacing left behind with each drink. The nose was slight with hints of coffee. Chocolate and roasted malt flavors to start and then coffee. Smooth finish with a small watery feel which wasn't too awfull. All in all a very good stout.

A very dark stout look that was completely opaque. There was a very minimal tan head but it did stay as a light layer and created some lacing. A mild and smooth ale that tastes of roasted chocolate and perhaps some small bits of coffee flavor. There was a bit of wateriness in the feel of this beer, but it did not seem too far out of place because of the flavor delicacy. A nice, easy drinking beer.

Named in honor of Cincinnati's riverboat heritage this stout pours a jet black with a modest head that fades quickly but is easily regenerated with a swish of the pint glass. Not much lacing action either. Roasted malt and slightly sour aroma. Toasty malt flavors. Dry and nicely hopped. Good mouthfeel but not a lot of viscosity. Light enough to be a session beer. Very enjoyable. A nice offering by an exceptional brewery.

Tasted at the Barrelhouse Brewing Company Microbrew Fest on November 9. This was my other favorite offering from Barrelhouse. Poured thick and dark. Sweet chocolate aroma. Flavor scored well with coffee, chocolate and toffee. This is the one to get on my next visit.
