This German-style wheat has a cloudy appearance from the traditional German yeast which also imparts a banana/clove nose. Medium-bodied with yeast and wheat malt character, it’s truly a glass of liquid bread!

On tap at the tap room. Hazy opaque yellow gold with two finger white head settles to fine cap.
Big clove aroma. Clove, coriander, and mild but building estry banana flavor. Spicy mouthfeel. One of the better domestic hefes I've had. Kudos to Maumee Bay in good ole downtown Toledo. A fine dessert after a great perch dinner.

I got this one to go immediately after sampling it off the tap. This beer by far is most affected by being taken home in a growler; unbelievably, less than two hours after taking it home it had flattened out considerably. MMBC needs to do something to seal up the growlers better, though I don't understand how a beer can be so affected by such a short passage of time. That said, I've posted my on-tap review and I'll just grade with revisions, noting that less of the bread notes are present with more lemon rind.

Pleasantly hazed, yellow, white head. Looks great. And it smells fabulous. Snappy, peppery aroma. A bit phenolic with a banana aroma that picks up steam as the brew warms. Really great lacing -- bubbles cling for dear life to the side of the glass and really stick.

Bits of clove for sure. But the standout feature of the flavor profile is banana. Mashed banana puree served atop bananas drizzles in lemon juice and sprinkled with a dash of allspice. Pretty damn good for a Bavarian-style hefe, really. The lemon typical to the style doesn't show itself until the aftertaste, but that's not such a terrible thing with this beer, which is what it is -- and is pretty good at that.

The appearance was good for this type of beer. It was a cloudy golden color with a full white head on top.

The smell was of very ripe apples almost. It had a very crisp and clean smell to it. It almost smelled like champagne.

The taste was better than most hefe's that I have had beings that I am not a huge fan of them. The taste was crisp and clean like the smell. It was very sweet with the typical wheat taste at the end.

The mouthfeel was average. There was a fair amount of carbonation and there was good consitensy.

Drinkability score low only because it was not as enjoyable as I expected. I will not buy anymore of these but will drink if it is bought for me.
