This beer is a pale gold that leans a little darker for the style with a near-transparency. The head is bubbly and white, about half a finger tall and holding steady. It drops good lacing on the glass as it goes.
I get some of the cucumber in the nose, underneath which is Maumee Bay's base Kolsch. Dry, it shows pale malts with just a touch of leaf. It hits some grains underneath without detracting.
In the flavor, the cucumber shows up just enough to add its unique flavor while letting the beer work. It's fairly dry, though I'd like a bit more white wine character that the great ones have. Malts are somewhere between crackery and bready, with just a slight hops presence.
The crispness and dryness are on target in the feel, and the grains come through in the end without taking away the cleaner aspects.
