Sample at the brewpub: Pours clear dark amber with a medium thin off-white head and spotty lacing. Rye and bready malt aroma is hard to pick up but is pleasant. Medium-bodied and smooth rye and hops flavors, with a touch of sweet malt. The finish dry with lightly bitter hops that linger for awhile. Above average.

Appears clean dark amber, nearly brown. No head or lacing. Nose is full of big malts with some spice too. Flavor is malty smooth, with some biscuity toasty flavors coming out. Rye is present, adding a little kick to the flavor. Finishes slightly metallic, with some sweet malts. Decent offering from Maumee Bay.

Appearance: A rusty color with a small tan head. It was pretty clear with some nice looking bubbles.
Smell: Smell was malty and sweet.
Taste: Taste was pretty strong. There was malt that stayed through the whole beer. At the end of each taste was strong hop and spice to it. I looked for the taste of rye but couldn't really find it. Since this was my first rye beer I did not know what to expect.
Mouth feel was just a little thin.
Overall a good beer.
