From the 12 oz bottle in a snifter. This nice little brew
pours a deep and dark brownish black cola color with
a very nice head of tan foam that settles to a thick ring,
thin clumping layer, and shows nice lacing. Nose of coffee,
cocoa, vanilla, and cherry with char elements. Flavors follow
the nose but exceed by presentation with char laced vanilla
and mild tart cherry over a bed of coffee and mild dark chocolate
with cola and dark roasted malt notes. Nice mouth feel; medium
full body, smooth, roasted, medium carbonation, and a moderately
dry malt driven finish.

Overall, a SOLID brew from a great brewery!

Cheers

Too bad this beer is no longer being brewed. Nice dark brown, black color with little tan lace. Tastes just like a cherry vanilla sundae. This beer finishes very smooth and so delicious

12 fl. oz. bottle
Served in a pint glass

This beer pours black and is topped with a couple inches of tan head that leaves decent lacing.

I get all the smells that I am supposed to. I get chocolate and vanilla right away the cherry is more subtle and opens up more as it warms.

The taste is dark chocolate and vanilla. The cherry is, once again, subtle.

It is thinner than I would like it to be. But I am a picky a-hole.

This is a real solid beer. I would drink again.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass; no bottle dating, but is a recent release. Pours lightly hazy nearly opaque dark brown color with a 2 finger fairly dense and rocky khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas vanilla, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toasted dark bread, and nuttiness; with lighter notes of cherry, almond, smoke, char, coffee, herbal, wood, and roast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready/roasted malts, vanilla, and light cherry/earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of big vanilla, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toasted dark bread, and nuttiness; with lighter notes of cherry, almond, smoke, char, coffee, herbal, wood, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/woody hop and roasted bitterness on the finish; slight fruit tartness. Lingering notes of vanilla, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toasted dark bread, nuttiness, light smoke/char, herbal, wood, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready/roasted malts, vanilla, and light cherry/earthy hop flavors; with a great roasted bitter/sweet balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light dryness from hop/roast bitterness, lightly increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready, and slightly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.2%. Overall this is a very nice fruit/spiced American porter. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready/roasted malts, vanilla, and light cherry/earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink. Great vanilla presence and well rounded malt complexity. Supporting earthy hops, and never too roasty or drying. Not a whole lot of cherry, but just enough to be noticeable. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

12oz bottle poured into a tulip. Pours almost black with a big fluffy light khaki head that falls leaving great retention and sticky lacing. The aromas have roasted malts with some hints of chocolate. Malts are there. There's some almond and cherry with some hints of vanilla. The flavors have some subtle roasted characteristics along with a sweetness to it. It's almost tart, but it's really not. The cherry and vanilla is there, but those adjuncts are balanced and subtle. Hints of chocolate and cocoa. Malts do their thing. Alcohol goes completely unnoticed. Mouthfeel is very nice. It's light with moderate to active carbonation. It's very fluffy and slightly creamy. It's smooth and easy to drink.

This is a decent porter. It's basically your typical porter with some cherry notes. It's not as crazy as you might expect a "cherry vanilla porter" to be, but it's nice and enjoyable.
