This is a one-off; I don't know much, but it may have been exclusive to Barr's Public House.
It's a medium gold color, a bit darker than traditional witbiers but closer to the modernized versions that seem to be gaining popularity. The head is off-white, about a quarter finger tall, decent retention and lacing overall.
Sage is strong in this one, though not overpowering. It does take over the softer elements, but some Belgian yeast comes through along with some almost noble hops. Not so much spicy as leafy, they rest underneath.
The sage is most prominent in the flavor as well. I would like more Belgian character from a wit, though it's not entirely overtaken. There is a sort of graininess from wheat and, it seems, some pale malts as well, and hops are light and mostly leafy / floral underneath.
It doesn't have the light but fluffy body of a truly great wit, though it does have a nice crispness and isn't overly heavy for the style. I'd like more fullness, and flow, though. The sage brings a savory character that somehow translates, and it's generally pretty dry.
