This pale, light bodied ale was originally brewed and named after the city of Koln, Germany however in Toledo we brew this ale for the infamous Toledo Mud Hens. Its cold aging period gives this ale a clean lager-like flavor making it a great session brew.

On tap at brewery:
A light to medium golden body with a visibly sustaining thin cap of white froth. Lacing is minor.
Between hearty cracker and bready malts are the main characters in the nose, but a light dry grass/hay and even lighter peppery note also play in.
Taste open clean with the malt, a little more dry crackers up front before the bread aspect comes it - a little dry white. As the beer warms, there’s a bit of a strawberry to melon fruit sweetness that comes with this. The dry grass bitterness sneaks in under a lovely carbonation. It’s still a smooth transition to the noble hop bitterness that has the lightest bit of black pepper bite to it. Fairly dry ending.
Has the malt and hop profile I really like in a Kölsch - not quite as bready as a Pilsner, with a moderate hop back. Pretty strong representation per my experience with the style.
