Served on-tap at the brewpub in Toledo, OH.
A: The oatmeal stout is dark as night, allowing nothing to enter and nothing to escape. A tan colored head is the insulation for the ale.
S: The nose is sweet, full of sour lactic aromas. That sourness is very enticing.
T: The lactic sourness is fleeting in the taste, quickly transitioning to the to a creamy oatmeal and coffee flavor. The coffee is strong but not overly intense, adding a smooth java flavor. The stout body is roasted, burnt at times, but strong enough to buoy the coffee and oatmeal flavors.
M: The mouthfeel is pleasantly full, loaded with chocolate, coffee and oatmeal. Not quite a serious breakfast stout, the coffee flavor can still pick you up.
D: The stout is not overbearing, a pleasing beer to sit and enjoy.
