My bottle says it's from January 2012 (and, I'm apparently at the threshold of refrigerated shelf life with this).

Pours a soft, light head that has surprising persistence that clings to existence. Bright, citrus and floral hop aroma. A nice amber-gold color. Starts with a very mild floral hop flavor that has a surprising metallic peak to it. After the middle, there is a slight sweet maltiness that arises into the finish, and intensifies as the hops linger.

This is pretty bland (though aromatic), until the finish, which is pretty nice, actually.

Pours, amazingly, a nice deep amber in color. Two-fingers of soda-like head quickly form and disappear with amazing swiftness, leaving only the faintest hint of foam at the rim. Well carbonated. Nose is heavy with caramel malt, along with some sweet apple and nary a touch more. Thus far, this is par for the course on all accounts. Flavor is also par for the course, and actually a tad thin and spritzy for what I look for in an American AMber. A sharp malt bite right upfront, reminisicient of sour apple, grabs you on the tongue then runs away to hide, leaving only a big malt sidekick to follow you to the end of this very average beer. I'm assuming it is unbelievably well-priced, so you can probably session this all day, but my money will be spent elsewhere.

What I like most: The consistency to the style, I guess.

What I like least: Lack of any unique qualities.

Verdict: A Serviceable AAA but that's 'bout it. Look elsewhere, folks.

Thrown in as an extra, kinda drunk right now, so can't give the proper shoutout, along with the fact I got like 3 boxes in 2 days, whaddoiknow?

Amber appearance, ruby, quite nice, we're off to a good start. Aroma, nothing special, a little nutty and sunsetty.

Taste, very smooth, almost gave this a 4, but rationalized it as giving it to the mouthfeel. Really smooth, if you like SA boston lager, you'll be into this prolly because this is a smooth beer with color and body. Caramel in the flow, but it doesn't have the substantial weight it does in other beers. A refreshing, yet body rocking amber. Good effort.

A- Pours an orange/red that has just the slightest haze to it. A small head, about a half finger, recedes rather quickly and leaves just a small cap on the beer.

S- Big sweet malt greets the nose right away. A little bit of roastiness in there as well. Some hops meld well in there too.

T- Sweet caramel and malt on the forefront. After the initial burst of flavor that roastiness comes into play and just the slightest bit of hops. Just a touch of honey at the end

M- Medium bodied but it is a touch on the thin side. Good carbonation and a nice smoothness on the end of the beer.

D- A good refreshing beer that has good flavors. Nothing too overpowering makes this a good summer time beer. I have a few more offerings from BBC so I am looking forward to what they have to offer.

Appearance - Very clear amber with orange highlights. Very small one finger head even with an aggressive pour. Very minimal lacing left on the glass.

Smell - Sweet smelling caramel malts with medium floral hops. Also a hint of slight nuttiness.

Taste - Nutty flavor with a nice bitter aftertaste. I like it.

Mouthfeel - Thin, smooth mouthfeel that was a bit watery with a small amount of carbonation.

Drinkability - I could drink a few of these in one setting. Not too filling. Probably my favorite of the Bluegrass Brewing Co. brews.

12oz bottle poured into my Ale Asylum pint glass, bottled December 2009...picked up in Nashville on a recent roadtrip, my first beer from Kentucky, so a necessity to review!

Pours a nice dark copper with a sparse off-white head...the beer is pretty clear and the head dissipates fairly quickly...

Smells of sweet bready malts, caramel and toffee with a touch of earthy hops...

A bit lacking in the taste, some sweet grains but rather watery. Not much of a hop presence at all, a bit of spice...

Light to medium bodied with decent carbonation (could've used a little more IMO)...crisp and clean...

Easy to drink and refreshing, crisp with no frills. Nothing to be excited about but I wouldn't turn this one down if offered to me...

Coppery in color, wonderful head retention with the lacing all down the side of the pint, big malty nose for such amber colored beer. Taste was dry and had a nice touch of noble hops, tettnager or perle maybe? I could drink this one all day. Great session beer.

The beer pours a great clear amber color with a white head.
There is not much in the aroma but a faint smell of malt.
The flavor is very clean but there is not much that stands out and it is pretty dry.
The mouthfeel is dry but smooth and it is pretty drinkable.

12 oz bottle, poured into glass

A: pours a brown to red color, medium head.

S: Hops, mild hints of malt, a bit of grainy sweetness.

T: Slightly bitter, slightly sweet. Only a bit watery.

M: Not too oily, and crisp drinking.

D: I had one, not much of a desire to have another.

Poured amber with a finger of white head. Smell is slightly sweet malt.

This beer tastes mainly of malts, not a lot of balance which I consider a downgrade, a little more hops to balance the sweetness would be nice. Seems very lightly carbonated, I think it would be better with a little more as it lays somewhat heavily on the palate. For tasting like its a lot thicker than most ambers I would say this is quaffable. More quaffable than drinkable because it's not anything special.

Pours a color that I was define as "amber" although the lack of substancial head is a bit disappointing.
Smells faintly of some spices which are good and a little sweet malt.
Taste is interesting, but not really complex. There are good spices on the front and back ends.
Finish is a bit weak, but there which is nice.
Highly drinkable.

A beer of the month offering.

A: Pours an orangish red color. Very small and faint white head with very small amounts of spotty lacing.

S: Unfortunately, the smell was rather faint. Not much distinction between scents. Some bready malt was the only thing I could pick up.

T: Some bready malt at first, with some faint fruit on the back-end. From the flavors I can taste, it is a very nice blend, but overall, not much happening in this category.

M: A tad on the thin side, but a clean mouthfeel.

D: Although there is not much going on with this brew, it is easy to drink when many other options are non-existent.

A: Nice enough amber color (duh) with visibly
good carbonation.

S: No distinguishable or outstanding aromas

T: Very bland with the aftertaste that reminds
me of the taste of drinking from a garden
hose. Stale water and slight metal taste.

M: Very watery with little to hang on to.

D: Better than your average macoro of the same
style but not much better. On the one hand
this brew is easy as water to drink but
doesn't have the flavor to make me want to
keep drinking.

Got this in my April beer club pack. Never heard of it before or of Bluegrass Brewing Company so I came to this beer with no preconceptions.

Poured into my standard Troeg's US pint glass. A fairly aggressive pour produced a minimal head with some lacing. A nice amber brown color with some haze and carbonation evident. A nice looking beer.

Smell is very subdued. I get very little except some mild sweet malt.

Taste is very pleasant, sweet and almost a little cidery.

Mouthfeel is a little thin but not bad.

Drinkability is very good although I could not find the ABV on this anywhere.

All in all, I certainly found this a decent beer and much better than I thought it would be coming in. I would revisit this beer.

An Amber that's listed as an Alt. Interesting... Looks a little more on the orange side with a touch of peach to it. The head is a narrow collar of little white bubbles.

Smells sweet and playful with biscuits, fresh baked bread and a very wholesome honey with some sweet prunes for balance. There's a crisp dryness here that I can't quite nail down. Seems to just float there giving the aroma a little edge.

Tastes quite crisp and clean considering the heavy sweetness of the smell, which is a good thing. It starts with a touch of home made bread crusts that's balanced out with a touch of under-ripe strawberries and a dry birch bark. Simple, clean and tasty.

Feels present and assertive, but delightfully clean that seems to vanish quite quickly with a mischievous raspy carbonation that adds a lot to this beer.

How much is this a case? I'm surprised at the simplicity here and my overall enjoyment of this beer. Probably not the best for the style (amber or alt) but it's nonetheless extremely drinkable.
