Transparent mid gold with minimal bead and an off white head.
It had NO smell that I could determine, however it did have taste, which unfortunately was a dull watery beery type of taste.
It seems that they had extracted more flavour out of this no maltiness no hoppiness s\just slightly bitter water.
Even with minimalexpectations I was disappointed

Massive white head spills out of the can before I can pour, and results in an extremely large bubbly head. Weak carbonation and golden in colour.
Nose is sweaty grains with no real traces of hops identifiable. Nose also seems a little sweet.
Rather disasterous taste of grains with a tangy feeling, that is in no way close to bitterness. The palate is soft, short and almost cheesy, with no bitterness found whatsoever. What gives them the right to call this a bitter?
Pretty average stuff, but at this price and volume I wasn't expecting great things. Marginally better than the CUB stuff.

when is a bitter not a bitter? when youre drinking boags classic, AKA 'the tube'. the only beer brewed in oz thats packaged in a pint can, its about the only good thing about this beer. apart from that, shock horror, another nondescript lager from down under.
poured with a mammoth white rocky head the likes of which ive never seen! totally erupted from my glass with volcanic force. color no more than youd expect from an average lager. the head looked like beaten egg whites, which i thought was funny coz it smelled and tasted like them too. some traces of malt alround, but nothing to indicate the presence of hops. was also quite sweet. if id chucked a lemon wedge in with this it would have tasted like a lemon meringue pie. nice on a plate with cream, but not in a beer. the question i ask again, where was the bitter? the back palate died completely, with nothing there whatsoever, let alone hop bitterness of any kind. a travesty. was still somewhat crisp and clean, but that was more the fizz of the bubble action rather than any hop characters.
to say this beer was awful would be being generous. scary thing is it tasted better than most other australian macro offerings in the lager/bitter department. i suppose on that level i should be thankful this didnt seem like someone had urinated in my glass when i wasnt looking. still an absolute barry crocker all the same.
