Copenhagen 20/2 2020. 33 cl bottle from Meny, Østerfælled Torv, Kbh. Ø. Pink and purple label telling me that this is a “Perfectly Modern Pale Ale”. The version I am drinking holds an ABV of 5,0.
Pours clear, golden yellow with a small white head. Settles as thin patch of foam unable to cover the surface of the beer. Very moderate lacing.
Aroma is medium intense with a strong malty sweetness and a bit of frutiness. Caramel, sweet pale malts with hints of toffee. Light odor of tart berries and oranges. Light metallic odor rummaging in the background.
Medium carbonation. Thin, watery, lively texture. Flavor is medium sweet Followed by a slightly more moderate citric bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter with a light sweet undercurrent. Finish is rather dry.
A quite English ale. Well balanced and not too bitter. I appreciate the irony of labeling it as “Perfectly Modern”.

Oct. 2019: On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Orange colour, very little carbonation. Aroma and flavour of earthy English hops. This is a classical British pale ale / bitter in my book, nothing "perfectly modern" about it. A bit more carbonation would help. Quite drinkable though.

On draught. Celebrating 300 years of brewing. Golden amber. Thin frothy head.
Floral aroma with some toffee malt which extends into the flavour. Hops present.
Light to moderate body. Smooth cask conditioning.
Decent but not great for a celebratory ale.
