Another classic with an alluringly deep rich but transparent brown color. Just bitter enough to keep the sweet malt from being overpowering. Brewed with British malts and hopped with Perle, English Goldings and Willamette hops to about 20 IBU's.

On tap at the source. Fairly clear deep reddish brown with a decent off white head. Aromas of caramel and light chocolate. Faint earthy hop flavor counters nicely. The best of the bunch.

On-tap at the brewpub.
A: Deep, clear mahogany body; thin cap of fine tan bubbles that settle into a ring. Spotty lace. Ok.
S: Light caramel, heavy nuttiness, faintly earthy hops. Average.
T: Follows the nose: lightly flavored, entirely standard Brown Ale.
M: Fairly light, highly carbonated, and very soft. I like it.
O: This was a nicely drinkable session beer, but every bit as boring as the style can be. There are better options on tap.

I'm not a big Brown Ale fan, so this review takes that into consideration.
Great pour, and nice looking, properly-thin head. Tastes like a brown ale should, nothing exceptional, very weak body. Feels okay on the tongue, again, nothing exceptional, but nothing that stands out negatively.
It looks great though, and smells good too. Aromas of malt and caramel overpower any hop aromas, if there is a strong hop quantity to this beer, I couldn't tell.
Not bad if you like brown ales, but not great either. A good table beer.

This is a very light and thin brown ale. I stopped off here on my way back from a business trip to VT. I hadn't been to this place in a dozen years. I don't think much has changed. I tried all of the beers as samplers before buying a growler of the one I liked the best. In this case, it was the Brown Ale. The beer pours a creamy but small head. The nose, and everything else about this beer, is unassertive. There are some caramel aromas but nothing distinct.
The taste is very light, thin, a bit too watery for my tastes. The beer doesn't have much backbone, malty presence, or a really tasty or assertive palate. It is creamy, caramel, some crystal malts, some roasted notes, some nut brown flavors, some toffee perhaps, but that's it. It is a very easily consumed beer, it tastes good, but it lacks punch and character. The beer can use some stiffening up.

A) Poured with a thin wispy head. Thin sticky lacing. Reddish brown in color. Just a bit of haze (unfiltered).
S) Sweet earthy notes. Caramel and brown sugar. Not a noticeable hop aroma.
T) Complex. Sweet, sugar nose mixed with a hop bite. The sweetness mellows to the finish but the hops remain resilient and linger in the aftertaste.
M) Medium bodied. Smooth. Some dryness in the finish as well as some grittyness.
D) Yes. Yes. Yes. Might not be entirely true to form but a great brew!

Off the tap this beer was a dark garnet color with ruby highlights and a great amount of rising carbonation. The one-finger tan head displayed outstanding retention as a cap and left lacing in sticky bands. A great looking beer. The aroma was light, floral hops, toasted malt and hints of nuts. The flavors were rather neutral, toasted malt, a touch of citrus hops, nuts and light alcohol. There was a bitter finish to it and it lingered on my tongue - this was the best defined feature in the flavor profile. The mouthfeel was smooth, the body medium and the carbonation perfect. It's too bad the flavors were boring because this one really looked and felt great.

Poured soft brown hue with a one finger foamy white head. There was good retention and lacing.
The smell featured a light cereal grain with a wisp of flowery hops.
The taste consisted of a nutty cereal grain, with a mild utilitarian balancing hop.
The mouthfeel was on the thin side, with a clean finish.
Overall a very easy to drink and low ABV ale. A good session beer.

Drinkability: I could easily have a few of these as the flavor is good.

On tap in a pint glass. Dark brown with good clarity and a thin lace. Watery chocolate with a long lasting toasted malt. Faint hopping, just enough to quell the sweetness. A touch of yeast and fruitiness make it to the palate.
Reminds me of some of the dark milds I used to brew, very quaffable.
