Nice caramel color. Almost no head. Nose bready malts, caramel, pretzel, biscuit. Taste salty pretzel, caramel, spice notes, hint of cinnamon. Clean fresh finish. Of all the marzen and Oktoberfest beers out there this one tastes just different enough to stand out. Easy to drink and enjoyable.

I tried this year's (2011) marzen in a sampler at the brewery. 4 oz pour in a straight sided glass leaves a thin ring of suds that fades in a couple of minutes. This beer has a very nice color. I like the way the copper red shines through the brown body.
The nose is big and spicy with soft warm caramel and nutty notes. There is grain and sweetness that flowers in the nose and makes the mouth water.
The taste is very malty throughout. The grains are toasty and there is a nice sweet woody flavor. It is almost herbal with grain, grass and tea. Flavors improve as it warms.
The mouthfeel is right on for the style. It has a solid presence without getting heavy or thick. Carbonation is low.
Overall, this is the the beer that make me wish I wasn't driving. But sadly, I was and the next will have to wait until my next trip to Springfield.

Had on tap at the brewery
A-Off orange with a nice 1 finger head
S-Very clean, grain, hops, grassy as well
T-Alot of the same as the nose yet has a good spicy quality in the finish, with a very nice hop charecter as well.
M-Solid offering not extremly complex but very good feel to it on the palate.
D-I always look forward to having a few of these around the time of year when they drink it out.

I've had this beer a ton over the years. It wasn't as impressive as I remembered but still good. And when its Oktoberfest season its a must have.
Appearance was a nice amber brown. Smell was very crisp and malty. The taste was well balanced with a nice toasted malt.
Fun seasonal but nothing that really grabs your attention. Kind of blends in to the background with all the other beers.

pours a rich orange, decent head retention
smells of very nice barley malt, clean smell with a small nose of hops.
A strong malt quality to this beer, but decently balanced with a smooth and not overpowering hop, a spice that is hard to place is present, maybe a clove or allspice.
mouth is medium with a medium-heavy carbonation, smooth and crisp. Easily drinkable but not the best Marzen available. a good representation of a tasty Lager/

Poured a nice copper color with decent off-white head that hung around a while. Had a nice rich malty aroma to it. Flavor was also malty, but maybe a bit sweet for my tastes. Mouthfeel was good, but maybe a tad thin. I thought this was a pretty decent beer.
