Pours a black color. 1 inch head of an off-white color. Great retention and good lacing. Smells of sweet malt, dry hop, hint of roasted malt, and slight yeast. Mouth feel is smooth and creamy, with a low carbonation level. Tastes of roasted malt, slight coffee, slight sweet malt, hint of hop, and a hint of yeast. Overall, great appearance and mouth feel, but body and aroma are not quite what I would expect from an Irish Dry Stout.

I had this in a pint glass.

Appearance - Black with a fingers worth of creamy tan head. Lots of lacing.

Smell- Roasted malt, coffee and char.

Taste- Dark roasted malt, char, and hints of black coffee. Just a touch of pine in the background.

Mouthfeel- On the light end of medium bodied. Smooth, creamy, and dry.

Overall- Pretty good stout. Very drinkable. I would stop for this one again the next time I pass through Springfield, MO.

Pitch black with a creamy tan head, exceptional retention and cascading nitrogen bubbles effect from the tap. Creamy lacing sticks to the glass. Appears thin upon swirling.

Aroma is a pretty clean and dry roasted coffee smell. Pretty standard.

Tons of bitter roasted flavors, burnt toast and coffee, very drying. Also an assertive piney hop, not really adding balance but instead, solidifying the bitterness. Very faint dark molasses sweetness.

Light bodied and lots of tiny nitrogen bubbles. Dry texture. Nothing special here.

High drinkability due to light body. To be honest though, when they advertized it as a dry stout, I was expecting something with more body and flavor. You know, something similar to Guinness Extra Stout, something that has some heart. I guess everybody likes the nitrogen-injected stuff these days. For what it is though, this one's not bad but it was still disappointing.

Part of Springfield Brewing Company's rotating Black Sheep beers.

Pours a jet black with bright red highlights when held up to the light, topped by a huge, foamy, cascading tan head that lasts.

Deeply roasted grain on the nose, with a fair dose of sweet caramel. Lightly burnt. Burnt grain dominates the palate. Smooth and velvety, light to medium in body. Not very complex, but a pretty good representation of the style.
