Poured into a Reuben's Brew pint glass. Pours a light to moderately hazy medium golden amber with a fine, four finger white head with great retention and thick, solid lacing; looks nice. Aroma of pale malt, citrus hops, lemon, grapefruit, hints of mixed fruit. Flavor is pale malt, citrus hops, lemon, grapefruit, light mixed fruit, a hint of dankness. Citrus rind finish with nice, better than moderate citrus bitterness with hints of pine lingering. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. To my satisfaction, the BIPOC box only contained one hazy IPA and it turns out it's not super hazy and even has some good bitterness in the finish, so it won me over at the start. The hop bill is kind of one note (lemon citrus), but solid, somewhat more like a pale ale than an IPA, but works. Sadly, I never would have purchased this off the shelf because I'm not a huge fan of hazies, but this one I'm satisfied with. It's interesting that it has the Black Is Beautiful name, since that started as a national collaborative stout effort (and an outstanding one with a great base recipe). I'm wondering if there is a second series starting in this style. Interesting. I did get a BiB stout (Montclair version) in this box and greatly looking forward to it.
