Having this beer on-tap at the brewery, as my wife are in Erie for our last night of vacation before going back home to Cleveland tomorrow. Served in a tulip glass, this beer draws a cloudy/hazy, medium to dark copper color with a slightly tan:off white head that’s about half an inch thick when first drawn and served. Settles to a medium sized ring lining the inside of the glass. Not much lacing, etc. aromas of some slightly toasted, bready malts with caramel sweetness that gives way to figs, dates, and Belgian candy sugar. Has a slightly toasted, bready, caramel malt flavor up front that gives way to the aforementioned dates and figs for a bit of additional sweetness along with definite Belgian candy sugar, and just a hint of peppery spice. Not much, if any, discernible hop flavors here. Has a smooth, slightly crisp and prickly, medium bodied mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. The various sweet flavors really linger nicely on my palate for the aftertaste.
