Bottle: Poured a murky brown color ale with a large foamy head with medium retention and not much lacing. Aroma consists of brown sugar with medium caramelized malt. Taste is also dominated by brown sugar notes with some pretty good caramelized malt notes. Body is quite full with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Overall this is OK thought lacking some complexity.

Got this bottle at Peluso's with a few other Barley wines from Québec. The thing is this one is 5.29$ for a 330ml.

Poured in a snifter, gives out a dark brown color with redish hints. The liquide is very opaque, no way of getting any light across it. I get a loose head made of big bubbles but it seems to hang in there for a pretty long time.

Smell more like a brown ale then a Barley wine. Hints of Malt, a bit of dark caramel. It's not an expressive smell for this type of beer.

taste is very light, torrifed malt, a bit of brown sugar, toffe and hop oils, I agree on the wet carboard taste.
Quite watery but finishes dry on the palate due to the Malt bitterness witch is kinda nice.

I mean, I had a Barley wine yesterday from Brouhaha and it was the bomb compared to this one...I'm a bit disapointed...
The good thing is that you would never guess its a 10 % ABV.
Its not a bad product but compared to other Barley wines form Quebec, its pretty average...
With all my respect.

Cheers Lads

A- Cloudy, brownish red amber. Beige head. Decent strands of lacing going around the glass.

S- Lemon, grapefruit, passion fruit.

T- Up front, is sweet malty grapefruit, a bit like a IIPA then comes dark, liquory fruit in the middle, some grassiness in the finish. Brasseurs du Hameau yeast follows throughout but works well with the rest (finally). Alcohol is well integrated as well.
Warming up brings a bit of strawberry/cherry cough syrup and cardboard.

M- Full body. Medium, creamy carbonation. Not dry.

D- Okay. Tastes good enough. Not very thick.

I'm not disappointed but not impressed either. If you're familiar with the current Brasseurs du Hameau lineup and imagine a barleywine they'd make... this is probably it.

Kind of expensive when I think of it. This stubby bottle looks bigger than the 330ml it contains and is priced at $5.29
