Bottle: Poured a hazy light dirty blonde color ale with a large white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of stale herbal hops with unrefined grainy notes is not very enticing. Taste is a weird mix between a grainy unrefined malt base that is not enjoyable with some herbal stale hops. Body is full with good carbonation. This had good potential but the malt base is atrocious.

A- Prettier than most other LBdH beers but as usual, very cloudy. Some sort of brownish amber with a nice, light, white foam on top. Lots of lacing.

S- Mmmh. Smells good. Seems similar to la Gobeil which should be good news. Grapefruit juice with a slightly rougher and herbal edge hinting at the bitterness which lies ahead.

T- Nice. Grapefruit and guava or something. Nice strong but enjoyable bitterness. Finish is well bitter and fruity and is joined by a a considerable amount of alcohol in the after-taste. Very good flavour with nothing to offend.

M- Full bodied with medium to high, fine carbonation which foams up. Not very dry.

O- Very good. I'd be sure to buy more if itwasn't $5.99 for 0.5L.
I hope this brewer keeps going in the same direction. Also, I don't usually care about a beer being clear or not but I think this one would benefit from a little clearing up.

A new one from Brasseurs du Hameau and my first from the brewery. The beer girl at Peluso pointed it out as a new arrival, saying it just came in this week. At 50 IBU I figured I'd at least get some fresh hops out of it. Pale for a pale ale, looking almost indistinguishable from a weissbier: hazy pastel yellow body with a light cover of well-laced bright-white head.

Lots of real, fresh citrusy hops coming out in the nose. Predominantly papaya with mango, pineapple, minerals and a touch of honey. Smells a little thin on malt. I've never had a beer smell so strongly of papaya, I wonder which hops were used?

As the nose would lead you to believe, this pale ale is low on malt. The hops taste nice and fresh but there's nothing for them to contrast. Pine comes out much more in the mouth, with the tropical fruit playing a secondary role. Bitter pineapple rind, a hint of grapefruit, touch of floral honey. Pretty much zero toasty/roasty character. Grapefruit pith lingers on the finish, also showing a bit of alcohol. I'd like a little more balance in terms of malt.

Thin body with medium-low carbonation. Moderately drying finish. Seems to work okay here.

The hops are noticeably fresh and pretty nice; unfortunately the rest of the beer doesn't quite rise to meet them. If I had to call this one or the other, I'd probably say it's a lot more similar to an under-malted take on an IPA than any kind of pale ale; especially at 6.5% ABV. I suspect that this stuff won't be nearly as good a month from now so get it soon while it's fresh as there's no date on the bottle.
