341ml bottle poured into a pint glass
Appearance - the beer pours a clear red brown colour with a small off white fizzy head. The carbonation doesn't show very much at all. Just a few bubbles rising to top. There is some decent lacing and the head was gone fairly quickly.
Smell - The beer has a fresh clean sweet smell. Biscuits and brown sugar, also some malts and some hops. It also has slight medicine like taste, found in beer like fin du monde.
Taste & Mouth - The beer doesn't have much carbonation, but it still feels decent in the mouth. The malty sweetness hits first, then a coffee flavor, followed by a slightly bitter finish.
Drink - An above average beer that I would drink again but wouldn't go out of my way to seek out.

I saw this cheap and thought, what the hell, maybe it's basically a Boréale Rousse?
It turns out to be a Boréale Rousse that's a little more watery, a little more bland, with a little less head than the real thing. The Rousse is good enough that there's room to fall, so this "Rouge" is still respectable, and quite drinkable. (Obviously, if you don't like the Rousse I can't imagine you'd like this.) In the great Québec brewing tradition, you get a silly story on the label.

Reddish liquid with a little foam head. My glass is frozen so I can't say if that has an effect on the foam but it does not last long.
At first, there is the sweet aroma of butterscotch but it disappears after a while.

Mouthfeel is ok, you don't feel the urge to breath fire after a sip.
Not the most complex beer you'll ever taste but it's a fine drink on a hot sunny day.

Bottle: Poured a clear dark amber color ale with a small foamy head that disappeared way too quickly. Aroma of pumpkin and overcooked vegetables is not really pleasant. Taste is also dominated by some gross overcooked vegetables with a dry malt finish which doesnt really work. Body is flat and lifeless with some oily texture. What a mess from a brewery who use to produce half decent beers not so long ago.

bouteille brune de 341ml.
belle couleur cuivrée, claire, mousse jaunâtre. petites bulles belles à l'il, nez malté caramélisé, bouche tout en caramel, agréable. bière légère qu'on aurait préféré avec un peu plus de poigne, de houblon et de corps. produit ordinaire.

A- Medium beige head that dissappears right away. Dark reddish amber, a very nice colour actually. Decent bubles.
S- Roast and slight burnt aroma. Background of cranberry.
T- Sweet water with touch of caramel. Mild burnt flavour. Off aftertaste of melon and aspartame, though this is faint. Lacking hops.
MF- Watery. Slightly drying. Lackluster overall, kind of like a soft drink.
D- Dissappointing beer from the local brewery. They have better, but need to work on their average. This beer won't help.
