As of this review, the beer is retired. I couldn't see a date on this bottle so I'm not sure if age plays a factor in my tasting.

Pours a pale straw colour with a thin head. Smells grassy and slightly of corn and grains.

Thin mouthfeel--a little watery in the taste and since the grain is unmalted the citrus notes and graininess is more pronounced. It has a sweet taste yet dry finish.

Could be a thirst quencher but not really a meditative pour.

341ml bottle poured into a pint glass

Appearance - The beer pours a hazy light gold colour with a gigantic fizzy white head. (aggressive pour) There is a low amount of carbonation. There is also some faint lacing and the head lasted for a short while.

Smell - The beer smells of corn syrup, lemon, wheat, and grassiness.

Taste & Mouth - The beer is a little under carbonated, which hurt the mouth feel - but not by much. I can taste corn syrup, lemon, and wheat. It has a really nice fresh and clean flavour. The beer finishes with a lemon and spice mix aftertaste.

Drink - Not a bad blonde beer.. Not sure if I would seek it out again, but I wouldn't turn it away if offered one by a friend.

bouteille brune de 341ml.

bière de couleur blé, très claire, l'étiquette annonce une mousse compacte et durable, rien de tel mousse compacte au versage mais elle avait disparue très rapidement. nez malté, léger goût épice agréable, légère amertume. passable.

Bottle from variety pack purchased at the brewery's new location in St-Alexis-des-Monts. Notched December 2006.

A- Decent headwhich decreases without completely dissappearing. Nice golden colour. Little streams of small bubbles.

S- Smells of grain and incense.

T- Hops and grain flavour well balanced. Slight bitterness. Overall flavour is light. Spelt gives an original flavour to this easy drinking beer.

MF- A bit thin. Leaves a good feeling in the mouth after you are finished. Carbonation a bit high.

D- Very drinkable. Refreshing and light but with some flavour to it.

This is a beer I intend to keep stocked at my family's chalet, which is only a few miles from the brewery.

Bottle: poured a light, clear gold into my tulip...fluffy cap..good lace...understated nose: spicey, sweet malts some mustiness. Spritzy mouth feel... sweet malts mingle with hints of cloves, banana, with a grapefruit tone in the finish as the hops turn the fruity tastes to citrus...clean finish. Light bodied... this is a very quaffable fruity ale with some spice notes...very nice.

A limpid beer that goes between auburn and golden, if she would be a woman I would say a "dirty blonde". The head never appeared in my bottle, actually just a white lace, as for my cousin(a frenchman from northern france at 5min from Belgian) his head was thich, creamy and never left its beer.

Smell of floral and fruity reminding me of some Unibroue's products in fact.
A small cereal/wheat smell was also present.

As for her taste, some fruity, but especially banana taste was present, a good beer for the style, my favorite from this brewery as I have a six pack of all their beer at home(thanx mom!, she visited the brewery).

Sampled at the brewery, in a tulip glass.

Appearance: Very nice golden honey blonde, but could use a bit more head.

Smell: Nice grainy sweetness with a touch of hops, after a while I started to detect a bit of banana esters, that I never picked up on the few times I've had this Beer from a bottle.

Taste: Good maltyness, as a pale ale should be, with that Belgian yeast thing going on. Mouthfeel is relatively light, understandably so at only 5% ABV, but a good bitter aftertaste that lingers makes this Beer quite enjoyable, easily my favorite from this brewery.

Bottle: Poured a golden colored ale with a medium head with very little retention. Aroma is sweet and floral-like hops have been generously been added. Taste is quite refreshing with the sweet and floral aspect of the malt dominating and the hops providing just enough character at the end. I thought this was a good session-type pale ale but would have never guess this was a Belgian ale without looking at the description..

Pours golden with an off-white head. Decent retention. Extremely spicy nose with floral accents. Medium body. Well balanced. A crisp, refreshing, yet complex brew with a fair amount of fruit (tropical?) flavors that run through the finish. One of two beers from BNF that are made with 25% unmalted spelt.
