A 330ml bottle with a BB of July 2017, so it's a bit out of date. Acquired a while back from a webshop. The label describes it as a traditional dry stout and includes the tagline 'Divine brews for divine beings'.
A: Poured into a tulip. A very dark reddish-brown that appears almost black in the glass. Good clarity and moderate carbonation are revealed when held to the light. Yields a smallish head of frothy off-white foam that lasts for a moment before collapsing to a patchy surface layer.
S: Aroma of rich roasted malt with hints of grain, nuttiness, subtle coffee, mild molasses, ale yeast, faint stewed leaves and a twinge of smokiness. Dry and rather nice.
T: Tastes of roasted grain with notes of dark malt, coffee, nuttiness, subtle molasses, a hint of dried fruit, ale yeast, stewed leaves and faint smoke. Very dry, followed by a robust malt-driven bitterness upon swallowing.
M: Mouthfeel is smooth and dry, with light carbonation and decent body. Perhaps a tad thin for the style. Aftertaste of bitter roasted malt, coffee, mild molasses, nutty grain and ale yeast.
O: Pretty good, and undiminished by age. Subpar looks, however the aroma and flavour are replete with roasty malt character, coffee notes, bitterness and yeast. Body is OK though insubstantial. Goes down a treat. Not sure if this is still in regular production, but worth sampling if you find it.
