Ah the party bottle for Eclipse 2018 party. A rum barrel aged Eclipse with something they've never put in an Eclipse before: banana. Orange you glad I didn't say banana? Oh wait, I did. Anyways, pours the standard dark ass black with normal viscosity for Eclipse and barrel aged beers as a whole. Brown head was slightly smaller than other Eclipses, maybe all that coconut oil and banana tempered down the head to a 1/4" depth. Strangely, I found everything aroma wise to be chilled out here. Like, previous rum Eclipse was strong, and coconut was strong, but neither of them come out and playaaaaay in the first beer I smelled at the party. Nose fatigue was not possible. But hey, at least it didn't smell like shit right?
Taste was a little better, wasn't the sweet kind of rum effect on the beer, and it was actually pretty easy and flowing down without much effort. It wasn't bad or anything, it just amounted to a beer that I preferred as individual Eclipses as opposed to the sum of its parts. Banana wasn't overpowering, and I think the rum/coconut just melded and limited each other, so this is actually an easier one to drink without relying on pastry stout territory sweetness.
