2018 Vintage Bottle

Appearance: Very dark brown bordering on black with a fairly generous sized thick dark beige head that gradually subsided. I think all the Eclipses I've had were nice looking Imperial Stouts.

Smell: Moderate peach aromas, brown sugar, mild dark fruit aromas, and mild coffee/roasted malt aromas.

Taste: Mild dark fruit notes, mild peach, moderate roast malts notes, and tannic oak notes. The finish is moderately dry with the peach and dark fruit notes integrating nicely with the roast malt notes and moderate oak notes.

Mouth-feel: Medium bodied with a moderate level of carbonation. A bit thicker than many other Eclipse variants I've had. Fairly thin bodied for the style.

Overall: A nice Eclipse variant. The Peach Brandy moderate sweetness and roasted malts play well with each other like the good Eclipse variants do. This variant is a nice addition to the Eclipse lineup.
Edit: The flavors in this beer become much more pronounced as the serving temperature becomes closer to room temperature (65F)

Had this last night at the Eclipse Release Party 2018. Wanted to try all the new varieties first before palate fatigue and whatnot got the better of me. This poured the usual thick black with a 1/3" brown head on the top. The aroma had a feint difference to the brandy that I presume must be the peach, just ever so slightly there and sweet in a non descript stone fruit character.

Taste is easy enough to drink, I think the brandy has a less robust presence than the bourbon does, less bitterness even. The peach is just enough sweetness to keep pushing this one forward and not being a difficult drink. Has a nice deft hand with the peach, its barely there, in a good way. Takes away the roastiness from the burnt malt. Definitely isn't as strong taste and mouth feel wise as he bourbon barrels either. Stuff seems cheap (Christian Brothers Peach Brandy) but unfortunately the price of these is in line with the rest of the Eclipse series. Something that was good and I would drink again, but not at the prices for a full bottle unless it comes down to $20.
