Had this on the first Thursday night in December 2019, at the source for the, 12th party I think?
Pours out the usual Eclipse appearance, black leaning into dark brown, with a lighter shade of brown on the top headwise, 1/3" deep. The aroma on this one was the hottest/booziest one of the night. I dunno, just seems like everything FiftyFifty does the last few years Cognac wise just brims with heat.
Taste confirmed as much. The cognac has this fusel/rubbing alcohol component to it for my taste buds. I feel like an outlier, as the overwhelming of people I know and otherwise seem to dig on it. So I guess this is one of those kind of reviews. The bitterness, roasted malt or otherwise gets boosted too. Is french oak used in Cognac? I believe so, and this tastes so, also perhaps contributing to my perceived bitterness. Light chocolate influence helps.
So look, if you like cognac barrel aged beers, you'll probably dig this. For whatever reason, I struggle making the transition from cognac to cognac barrel aged beers.

Pours dark brown. Aroma is simply bourbon and cognac. Tastes is also straight forward-- cognac, bourbon & roasty. Med to full body. Outstanding stout.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
