500 mL bottle into an Eclipse snifter (their little release party taster glasses).
Well, it’s been awhile since I reviewed a FiftyFifty beer. And I love how every Eclipse release stays true to the original batch, bringing me right back to the first time I sipped an Eclipse many years ago. Each variety has its own accent, but doesn’t steer far from the base flavors.
Every release has an Identical appearance - jet black, oily viscous, little effervescence. The nose is of coffee and unsweetened cocoa and molasses. The maple and bacon aspects poke through, but just.
Flavors follow, but the smoky aspects of the bacon flavoring are more prominent. Maple is detected, in lockstep with the root sweetness from bourbon barrel aging. Oily viscous as always, finishes long and sweet with plenty of lingering residuals.
This flavor recipe really highlights the best aspects of the series. Absolutely outstanding.
