Now in its 14th vintage, 2021 Eclipse is our rich imperial stout aged to perfection in whiskey and spirit barrels. All Eclipse starts with the same base beer bringing hints of dark chocolate, espresso, and a smooth complexity, with each barrel treatment delivering its own unique character after a minimum of 180 days of aging. Bourbon Barrel Cuvee is our brewers’ blend of our favorite bourbon barrels.

I received a 16 oz can of this from ronricorossi!
L- Pitch black with a rather substantial
tan colored head.
S- Bourbon aroma is upfront but not
overpowering. I detect fruits like fig,
prunes, raisins. Some very subtle
vanilla, too.
T- Bourbon is definitely upfront,
pronounced, but not overpowering.
Sweet vanilla follows with a dark
roasted malt and perfectly balanced
hop character.
F- Viscous, a little sweet, but not cloying.
Very little “active “ carbonation.
O- An absolutely world class BA Imperial
Stout!!

Served in a teku glass from the can.
Appearance: semi thick black body with a dark tan head which rose maybe half a fingers length with a hard pour.
Smell: butterscotch aroma which hits the nose strong but quick.
Taste: Comes off a whiskey sweet. Hints of light coffee, brown sugar, and a semi sweet malt. Very addicting.
Mouth: Medium carbonation. Sticky body, feels like I'm drinking whiskey infused molasses.
Overall: a must grab, not s unicorn a but puts up a fight when it wants to show off. Salud.

Imperial Eclipse used to be a regular part of my life until the bottles & shipping hit the ridiculous line. Happy to revisit an old friend in a 16 oz. format.
The pour is dense, black, displaying a touch of mocha head. The aroma is bourbon, malt, oak. I got bored even typing that sentence.
Bourbon Barrel Cuvee 2021 tastes exactly like the name; a bourbon barrel stout. Barrel, malt, slight toast, oak, touch of vanilla.
Really not much going on here other than a standard barrel aged stout. Pretty good brew.

Another beer from the Eclipse party in December 2021. I think this was my fave?
Now, I know this may shock you, but the Eclipse beer poured mostly black. Shocking, I know. Brown head, 1/3". The aroma, is equally shocking, that of bourbon, roasted barley, chocolate malt, dark oak almost giving off black walnut vibes. So basically, if you've ever had any of the 82 bourbon barrel Eclipses (slight hyperbole) you are realizing this review is just like the others. We don't penalize consistency here.
The taste is much the same, bourbon, chocolate, roasted malt. There was something just a tad smoother in the mouth feel. Result greater than the sum of its parts I guess. I didn't think this one displayed any dark fruit. Stayed away from that RIS like aspect. Hits that sheeting aspect. Fudge. Silky. Even though the carbonation was just like the others that day, the smoother aspect of this made it drink like it had less carb, but no.
These really still are absolutely reliable very good products. Price point makes to go bottles kinda iffy, but as far as the party goes, still awesome all around.
