Hey this makes two Eclipse reviews in consecutive days. I guess someone is cranking out the jams. 1st review beyond mere minimum word count on the site.
This was the second beer consumed at the Eclipse party 2022. Barrel aged imperial stout called Eclipse pours black. Informative. Brown head, 1/2". Aroma of gritty bourbon. Gritty? Nitty Gritty? You know, like it had that older dust on the bottle vibe going for it, earthiness. Who does that dust on the bottle song? Its good.
Anyhoo, the taste presents itself much in the usual Eclipse vein, roasted malt, bourbon, dark oak, svelte mouth feel. Strong, even well hopped but not all that bitter. Light tobacco and manilla folder impact. The chocolate mouth feel is that dark baker's chocolate vibe. Heavier toffee presence contributing to the earthy/gritty aspect no doubt. Can a beer be both gritty and oily? If so, this might be the one. You the twos, and we, the, ones. Carbonation is in the appropriate zone. Light unsweetened molasses underpinning. One of the good ones.

I can't believe how drinkable this beer is with no age on it ..
A world class base beer that could stand on its own without the barrel , as it should be for $25

Pour is black with a quickly dissipating broen head. At 13.9%, I am not surprised that there is no lacing around the glass. Rich, dark chocolate and espresso notes. Tobacco and leather all around. Barrel is also present.
