2022 bottle poured in Dec 2024
Look - Pours a nice black color with a thick creamy head.
Smell - Malt, bourbon, vanilla, and oak. Very nice!
Taste - Taste follows the nose. Chocolate, malt, vanilla, bourbon, and oak. Very drinkable.
Feel - Perfectly carbonated, nicely creamy, easy drinking. Very nice!
Overall - I am really impressed with this beer. Much better than I expected based on the score when I reviewed it of 4.02 (with only 5 reviews). I think this is a great beer!

Pours a medium chocolate brown, with a half-finger high but thick foam. Aroma is light malt, chocolate and a hint of vanilla. Taste is ABV forward, and largely a mix of chocolate and malt. The experience is dense but not very deep, if that makes sense. The malt and chocolate are very present. Any oak or wood elements, though present, are not as noticeable as other Eclipse brews.

More than happy to supplement the first review I just saw pop up. Its a good thoughtful one too, regardless of score. That's all I ask. It ain't much, but its honest work as the meme goes.
Imperial stout pours dark brown/black. The appearance of these rarely varies, brown head, 1/3". The aroma has less barrel than your average Eclipse. Whoppers up in there. Like really, did they "dry" hop this with Whoppers? In all seriousness, it seems like a possibility.
The taste has that component as well, so I think they in terms of execution hit what they were going for. I want you . . . so bad Bob Dylan sang. It does come at the expense of what is usually a solid but not over the top bourbon influence. I can't even tell what barrel(s) spirit, much less brand this came in. Was it a blend? Who knows. It doesn't have that sugary aspect, and that is nice, because whooo boy, some of those sugar bombs that are popular are like 4 oz and done. This ain't that. Its clearly not top tier Eclipse, but its not like pickle barrel bullshit either.
You call it jogging, I call it running around.

500 mL chestnut brown wax-tipped bottle, into a snifter
It seems inevitable the Eclipse series would expand beyond the parochial, distillery-themed renditions that made them some of the most coveted barrel-aged stouts in production, but since they’ve tried to keep up with the pastry stout trend, the brews have been hit-and-miss. This one may not be total miss, but it’s not a hit either.
The nose is classic, with their signature oak-anise-molasses thing dominating the aromas. But it falls flat on the palate. It’s too malty sweet for an Eclipse, but not pastry sweet enough to conjure up childhood memories of creamy, malty goodness.
It’s fine to explore and expand, and this brew is fine, but as I was finishing the bottle I couldn’t help but miss the Elijah Craigs and High Wests that made me chase this beer in the first place.
