Summer in the Truckee/Tahoe region means time on, near and best of all *in* Lake Tahoe. The second release of our Tahoe series, Tahoe IPA is a classic west coast style IPA. Crisp, clear, and full of hoppy goodness.

This was a weird one to find in a can because I've never seen it on tap after like 50 visits to the brewery. I think they're looking to capitalize on the Tahoe imagery and the success of their Tahoe Pilz. So here we go.
Pours yellow into that old Super Bowl XXIII pint glass. Sharkboy microbrawler in front. 1/3" white head. Yellow liquid lacks clarity of a west coast ipa despite being branded that way. Aroma does hit kind of that old school bitter feel, Idaho 7 and Chinook will hit you with all that forest and grapefruit rind smells.
Taste much the same way but with a lighter malt bill than those old C hop and crystal malt feels used to give. So the mouthfeel is light and crisp despite the cloudy appearance. I definitely prefer the pilsner to this one, although this one isn't bad. Totally the right feel for that 3rd or subsequent beer on the river once your buzz is on and palate is pushed to the side after a few bangers and zyns for your zins.

Look: Bright clear yellow with a substantial white head.
Smell: Piney with a hint of maltiness.
Taste: Sweet and malt forward with little hop flavor. For what claims to be a West Coast IPA, this beer needs to up the bitterness.
Feel: Rather poor. Thin in the mouth.
Overall: Desperately needs more bitterness. Not a bad beer but I would not purchase it again.
