Helles Lager with Lime and Jalapeños
Start with our classic Weekend Lager, and add a blast of jalapeno and a hint of lime, and you’ve got a slightly sweet, slightly spicy, extra refreshing beer to pair with whatever your spring and summer have in store. Aroma of fresh cut limes comes through with a subtle hint of pepper in the background. A quick pop of spice drops on the first taste but washes away as it’s slowly replaced with jalapeno heat.

I little bit of haze prevents some light from penetrating this light golden beer. Head presentation is fair, without any lacing. Nose is bready with a bit of grass initially. Lime comes out as it warms. In parallel, the grassy note takes on a little green pepper note as I think I start to notice the jalapeño coming out.
Opening note isn't quite as sweet as I expect for a Helles, and does seem the green bell pepper pervades the full taste of the beer. The bite from the jalapeño is subtle at first, but builds a bit with each sip of a warming beer. The lime shows up on the edges of my palate, but the pepper twists it into more of an impression of a full lime wedge, including the bitter rind and pith.
The dryness paired with the bitter green of the jalapeño pepper somehow make the feel of this beer a little less approachable than I am used to for a Helles. I'd like a little more bite and a little less bell pepper from the spicy addition (and I really like green bell pepper), but I'm still happy to be drinking this.

L: Poured from a tallboy can to a pint glass. Had a yellow-orange color and a cloudy consistency. There was a half inch of foamy, fairly long-lasting head. Below average lacing.
S: An odd aroma of jalapeno peppers, malt, and some citrus fruit.
T: Tasted of a good shot of sweet malt (mostly in the beginning), a light tinge of hops (fades after awhile), a good amount of jalapeno peppers, and some citrus (lime). A fair bit of heat from the peppers. An uneven flavor in many respects. The malt's overwhelming at first, but then the peppers overtake everything. Kind of a one-note flavor, but not bad either.
F: A good amount of carbonation with a sharp, hot finish. Light-bodied.
O: Definitely an uneven beer, and kind of a novelty act. Worth a look if you're curious, though.

Pale yellow body; thin head. Very faint smokey aroma. Taste brings a gentle lime flavor; slowly building chili heat. Light body; rather thin and watery; light sweetness with some chili heat dryness.
The chili adjuncts do show up, but the beer overall is rather so-so. Despite the pepper presence, the beer just comes across as bland across the board. The highlight is the chili heat that slowly builds and lingers, but it is nothing exceptional.
