Pretty good Imperial IPA. Poured from a 16 oz can into a pint glass. First pour was a fairly clear gold color with a medium sized foamy white head. Subsequent pours were hazy and gold. Aroma and taste featured some sweet caramel malt and moderate fruitiness and bitterness. Mouthfeel is rich and moderately bitter. The alcohol is well hidden and it goes down easy. Nothing spectacular but a solid Imperial IPA.

There is a date above the bar code: "07/20/2021"
Appearance: The body of the beer is a light golden-amber color with a slight haze. Crisp but dark shadows are visible through the body. The head is white, fluffy, and large. Very good head retention and very good lacing.
Aroma: It has a floral scent with a light and spicy character on the nose.
Taste: Up front there is black pepper and ants. Towards the middle there is a more black pepper with some white pepper added. It is a peppery tasting beer which can be interesting. There is a slight vegetal flavor which is barely noticeable at first, but as the beer is consumed it layers and builds giving it a slightly unpleasant quality. The peppery character seems to cut at the vegetal presence and balance it out to keep the overall beer After a while of tasting the beer, a woody note would pop in.
Mouthfeel: It has a spicy, peppery character which is interesting. The body floats around medium to medium-light which is too heavy for a beer with these flavors. Bitterness is medium but grassy and at odds with the beer as a whole.
Overall: The beer doesn't say what hops are contained within, but the last time I had similar characteristics it was from Sabro. It is an interesting beer but it seems very experimental and unrefined, which is a somewhat odd delivery from Alewerks. As a whole it was a curious beer but also a somewhat interesting one at that. I don't often recommend a sampler over a full pour but for this one I would say it is worth trying out a sampler or a short pour before committing to a full bottle or full-sized pour. The beer would likely pair well with most foods because it would not want to be the star of the show. At first I might have recommended this beer but as time proceeds in the glass it only highlights how much this beer is missing something else; something to anchor it or codify it into existence.
