Well, this contributing pint can's contents were emptied into a clear glass liter mug. It poured like a lager. With its quickly disappearing just-off-white head and bright but nearly translucent amber color, it looks like a lager. But, it smells much better than most lagers, as there's an ale-like quality and complexity to be had. This hits all the right taste notes for the Kolsch style, but only so far. It doesn't bring much of the nutty character the good ones do. The body is merely OK, not as silky as the good ones. It brings a little more stark bitterness than the best in this category, not necessarily a bad thing. In this hybrid category, it can be tough to make comparisons. This is a decent, but not remarkable Kolsch. There a little too much bitterness for the style, although ale lovers will consider that a plus. No glass lacing understates its body, but not by much. Maybe it's not outstanding, but it is very drinkable and we all love a good cause.
