This IPA found a way to slip out of my reach the last time I was in Brazil, but with the help my friend Kelly, I made sure that the opportunity doesn't slip again. Gold Medal winner at the 2014 Festival Brasileiro da Cerveja. From a 500 ml bottle, on to the beer:
A little darker than orange, working its way into copper color, with a somewhat creamy head on top and whipped lacing clinging from top to bottom. Its Aroma is fine on its own as well, and certainly by Brazilian standards. It has a floral aroma, clean, with a little bit of honey and vague lemon.
One taste and I can see how this could be a medal winner. There are certainly some good hoppy beers being produced in Brazil (see Holy Cow #2, Colorado Vixnu), but sometimes those lupulins don't travel well. Schornstein IPA delivers a hoppy experience while retaining some cleanliness. The taste of floral, lemon drops, subtle pine, honey, and slightly herbal. Add to the equation a medium body with modest carbonation, and this Brazilian IPA hits the mark per style, plus a little.

Orange to brown, with sediments. Not a clear one. Mostly bitter than citric. Heavy body.

Coloração âmbar com um denso creme. Aroma floral, cítrico e frutado. Amargor característico do estilo IPA.

Nice brazilian IPA of a hazy dark amber color and a nice whitey foam.
Smell and taste are citric and with some caramel tones. Possible to feel also some red fruits, specially cherry. Aftertaste is really dry and has a higher bitterness.
Actually, it is possible to feel the bitterness just with the nose! Nevertheless, this beer is well balanced.
Carbonation is at good level, body is lighter than you expect.
