Pours pitch black. 1 finger tan head. Retention is ok. No lacing on the glass.
There's a nice orange and chocolate aroma. A good combo.
Taste - The 2 flavors aren't working as well as the aroma let on. There's a bit of bitterness up front.
The body is ok. About what's expected for this style and ABV.
Not a perfect combo here. I think the original is better.

I guess I never considered using blood orange in a stout but this works pretty nicely. Reminds me of some of those orange/chocolate candies in the mixed chocolate boxes that come out around Christmas.

Body has some creamy notes and some citrus spritz as well.

Overall worth a try and a decent beer.

Got in a trade with The-Adjunct-Hippie. 12 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours crystal clear nearly opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of blood orange, citrus peel, milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee, vanilla, cream, toasted dark bread, light smoke/char, herbal, grass, and roast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of oranges/peels, roast/bready malt, lactose, and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of blood orange, citrus peel, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, vanilla, cream, toasted dark bread, light smoke/char, herbal, grass, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate roast/char, herbal/grassy hop, and citrus peel bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of blood orange, citrus peel, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, vanilla, cream, toasted dark bread, light smoke/char, herbal, grass, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of oranges/peels, roast/bready malt, lactose, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a nice roast/hop bitter/sweet balance, and no acrid/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from hop/roast bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready, and fairly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.5%. Overall this is a delicious fruited milk stout. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of oranges/peels, roast/bready malt, lactose, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink. Pretty much perfectly balanced oranges/peels, and standard milk stout malt profile with the lactose. On the bitter/hoppy side for the style, but really not an issue at all. Not overdone. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

Beautiful, silky, dark chocoalte brown-black pour with a decadent 1/2 finger of lace.

Smells halfway between a dark chocolate candied orange and a mimosa. Some slight orange tootsie fruit rolls.

Basic Moo Joos oat/lactose base with some metallic notes and slight candy orange. Some dirt, some oat. Tons of orange peel on the end.

Milky, soft feel with a good moderate carbonation. Roasty finish.

Overall, it needs a little work but it's worth a try if you haven't had it yet.

Brau Brothers Moo Joos Blood Orange Oatmeal Milk Stout, 5.5% ABV. Pours thin and black with 1 finger of tan head, leaves some lacing. Nose is milk, orange, and malt. Taste is milk and orange, not tasting any blood. Decent mouthfeel. Overall decent. Tastes better than S'more Moos Joos, though S'more smells incredible.
