My brother and I hit up Jupiter a couple weeks back and we still argue over what the better kind of hefe is. I say that a good hefe is a traditional German hefe, not the sour wheat juice that is American hefe. Anyway, aside from the dismal murkiness of this brew it was a good beer all (most of the way) around.

The appearance was completely opaque and a dark yellowish color. Couldn't even see into the glass to see if there was anything collecting at the bottom. The smell was strong and of bavarian yeast and some banana. Very inviting. The flavor was similar but with a little more complexity. There was some kind of spice under the sweet fruit taste. The other guy that reviewed this beer mentioned cloves, not sure exactly how that tastes in beer but I guess that could be what I tasted.

The body was pretty heavy and wheaty. A little different from the usual german style. Very smooth and drinkable.

This was a slightly altered seasonal take on their year-round hefe. In my opinion Jupiter should drop their regular hefe and serve this one year around. It is signficatntly better in all categories.

Appearance is a fairly dark yellow, leaning toward mud. The body is cloudy and completely nontransparent unless held directly to a light source. There is no individually discernable sediment. Head is thin and white. It dissipates quickly.

Aroma consists strongly of bananas and cloves. Taste is a rich wheat character with banana and plum highlights. Finish is surprisingly dry and quite spicy. Cloves are present here in the taste as well as the flavor.

This is a very pleasurable beer to drink.
