Paris 4/4 2026. 50 cl can from mini-market close to Gare de Lyon, Paris 12e. Black and gold can making quite a nuisance about being intense and having an ABV of 7,2.

Pours clear yellow with a big white head. Stable. Settles as a 0,5 cm thick layer of foam covering the surface of the beer. Substantial lacing.

Aroma is medium intense with a sweet malty odor mingling with sour grains and metallic alcohol. Sweet pale malts, bread and a sharp scent of alcohol. A little citrus and grains.

Low carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, soft, flat texture.

Flavor is medium intense with a rather strong sweetness. A bit boozy. Followed by a moderately strong bitterness. Aftertaste is a bitter with a sharp tang of alcohol. Lingers for a while. Finish is quite dry with a touch of alcohol,

I actually never thought that the standard version of Kronenbourg needed more alcohol. But here it goes.

50 cL can sitting there on the shelf at my local Casino Marche in Toulouse, France. Got its .30€ savings sticker on it, making for a 1.50€ grab.
Chilled it, popped it, poured it, sniffed it, quaffed it, burped it, then thought to myself.,.
“WTF. A bottle of Duvel goes for 1.90€ every damn day. And I’m drinking this lowbrow, sweetened, hop concentrated bum fights fizz that’s maybe saved by being a bit bitter.”
Part of me is ashamed. The other part reminds me to ‘try everything’.,.

Not bad, but I prefer the 1664. Again, enjoyed this while touring the Alsace region of France. Found in most any grocery store or convenience store for cheap.

This can stood out in the shelf, with it's distinctive gold inlay on a solid black canvas.

A satisfying clunk upon opening it, confirmed its quality of build.

Once poured, it exhibits golden hues of bronze and copper with a frothy white head perched atop.

The initial aroma betrayed a malty undertone intertwined with charred mountain ash, mixed with jugged hare.

Unfortunately this beer promised more than it delivered. Much like Brexit. You can find more depth and sophistication in a Nicky Minaj song than this distinctly average beer.

This beer sits heavier than OJ Simpsons conscience and is harder to swallow than Jimmy Savilles promise to fix it.

A generic beer at best, I would liken this to the latest member of the sugarbabes.

Clear golden amber brew with plenty of foam. You can't fault the appearance. Innocuous smell. Borrowing from other reviews, it does have a toasty, nutty bit of flavor. The malt is dominant with only a slight bitterish hint. But it tastes "beery" enough and more palatable than the usual swill lagers, especially in this stronger category.

This might depend on the mood you're in. If you're thirsty, it goes down easy. It's not quite strong enough to be a malt liquor, so it's reasonably drinkable. The current popular word on these stronger beers is "intense." Possibly sounds impressive in Croatian. From the 16 oz can purchased at the Monoprix.

Brasseries Kronenbourg "Kronenbourg 7.2 Blonde"
50 cl can, coded "05/19 8138Q17" and sampled on 22 June 2018
1,34€ @ monop', 5 Place du Dublin, Paris, FR

Notes via stream of consciousness: Well it's opened with a solid "crack" of sound, and poured a pretty large head of creamy white foam atop a clear deep golden body. A good amount of bubbles can be seen rising upwards, and the head seems to be holding well. The aroma is malty but also a little odd - not unclean or off in anyway, but unusual. I'm inclined to say that it leans towards toffee-ish but it doesn't quite get there. On to the flavor... oh yeah, there is something toffee-ish to it although it doesn't come off as buttery. Is it nutty? Weird. Maybe it's just malty and a hint toasty but the adjunct cuts through that and leaves it coming out like it is. There's some fruit to it as well, and you can tell there's adjunct in play as it's "malty" but without all of the actual malt flavor that would lend such body and sugar. (Medium bodied with a moderate, soft carbonation that leaves it smooth). It's balanced by a firm bitterness which, along with the help of some alcohol, brings it to a mostly dry conclusion. There's not a lot of alcohol but there's some. Looking back the head has dropped but it's left some great lacing about the glass. It comes off more like a Belgian blonde than an American malt liquor. I could drink a few of these, but to be honest, for just a little bit more money I could get a much better beer so there's that.

Kronenbourg is definitely not my beer of choice, however this one, much stronger I have to problem appreciating, also it's very cheap. Think of this beer as a quick and cheap summer buzz.

500ml can from a Monoprix in Nice, France.

7.20% ABV.

Served cold into a dimpled mug.

HEAD: Great froth. Foamy as hell. Thick even consistency. Soft look.

BODY: Clear vibrant pale copper. Clean looking.

Looks above average for the style. Lacks any unique or special characteristics.

AROMA: Biscuity buttery malts, pale malt sweetness, maize-like adjunct, malt extract, and a bit of mild floral hop character.

Aromatic intensity is average. Suggests a simple shallow brew with fair depth of flavour.

TASTE: Overly sweet. Buttery; diacetyl may be indicated. Minimal hop flavour. Syrupy malt extract gives this a cheap taste. At least it's not metallic. Booze is evident.

TEXTURE: Sticky, syrupy, and off-putting. Full-bodied, with an unnecessary weight on the palate. Overbearing. Filling. Heavy. Sort of a gut bomb beer.

OVERALL: This would pair well with cheap pizza if you're in the mood to vomit.

High D- (2.00) / AVOID

50cl can from the Carrefour: This one pours a clear golden color. There was a good sized off white head that left some lacing. Some malts and corn to the nose. The taste is OK, but not exciting. Some slightly sweet malts and corn adjunct flavor. Can’t taste the alcohol, but you sense it is there. Not offensive, but not really worth drinking either. I guess this is for the younger set who want more alcohol for the buck (or euro).

Pours a clear golden color with white head. Sweet malts on the nose, almost no noticeable hops; follows onto the palate. Medium bodied. Finishes sweet.
