never seen this one before i dont think, always forget about these guys, their distribution in idaho seems to have really dried up, a couple of them used to be around all over the place, but this one is new to me, just my second of theirs ever, on tap in eastern oregon, where the locals seem to love it. very old school, and i dont quite mean old world, despite the style, its very much like a last generation craft beer, intentional and solid, but not quite masterful overall, a malt bomb to be sure, sweet, some ten different grains apparently in here, which is rad, it drinks like a heavy amber, looks like one too, clear deep mahogany color with a pretty low red glow, short but lasting beige head, some creaminess there, somewhat substantial in the glass. i get some nice depth in the aroma from the malt, hazelnut, baked bread, brown sugar, faint smoke, cigar, and a raisin fruitiness as well, some yeast to this which i like in the style, authentic to me in that regard, layers of dried red apple, pine tar, and even trace peat if i kind of go looking for it. there is nice depth to this, and it warms up well, perhaps unfair to say it drinks like robust amber ale, but also it kind of does. herbal way back, sweet all the way through, well balanced, medium full bodied and hearty but bubbly enough to be a pint beer. i could see this being really nice on cask, for what its worth, not sure if these guys do that or not, but it would flatter this. very solid beer, i dont mean to sound critical, its timeless, glad i had it, would happily have another!

High Standard fare, this Scotch Ale from the eastern border of Oregon** is Very Good…A malty delight. Flavors are blended well to produce an extra smooth feel.
** the can states “brewed in Bend”. I’m uncertain if this brewery is an Ontario, Oregon enterprise, or whether it is now in Central Oregon (??). The BA header for this ‘brewery’ states “Beers are brewed at / by another brewery”

12oz can from Grocery Outlet. Dark, clear brown body, off-white foamy head settles out to a thin ring. Peaty, malty aroma, earthy. Taste hits the mark, peaty, earthy, malty, tobacco. Smooth with some lingering maltiness.

Malt hop balances well with peat malt coming throughout tasting. A little sour note comes thru. A standout in a IPA dominated world. I like it.

Look: Nearly clear dark amber in color with a short-lived off-white head that dissipates quickly leaving decent lacing behind
Aroma: Freshly baked brown bread, toffee, smoked peat, melanoidin, and some fruity esters reminiscent of dried dark fruit
Taste: Malt, malt, and more malt. A delicious hit of bready malt, dark malt, toffee, and melanoidin come together to start it off and along the way, light fruitiness sneaks in from time to time before maltiness takes hold again. Slightly sweet breadiness on the finish
Mouthfeel: Full bodied, very smooth, fairly clean tasting overall, and a very soft and smooth finish
Overall: I’m way into this one. Seeking a non-hoppy beer so stumbled upon this and couldn’t be more pleased. A delicious malty Scottish Ale with just a kiss of peat smoked malt and way too smooth and easy to drink at 7.5%. I find that these folks’ beer flies somewhat under the radar too and this one stays in that mold. Tasty and recommended
