Bottle from the brewery. Dark, muddy brown, lightly hopped. Malt at the forefront reminiscent of a doppelbock. Not bad, but not your typical cascadian dark ale. Some might dry bitterness at the finish.

Bottle picked up tonight at the COOP.. pours a hazy almost black... dark dark brown with enough light through the stem of the glass that reveals a murky quality.. the head is 2 finger light brown with great retention.
Nose is much more dark malt dominated than most CDA's... thick roast and some light brown sugar then the hops try to battle back but get hammered.... Piney hops are sorta light IMO.
Flavor is overly balanced toward the black malts... sorta oily maltiness gives way midpalate to a dry molasses with a very surprisingly light pine/citrus zest light hop bite.. finish is a bit of char.
Body is light/medium with a slippery feel... light carbonation.
Not too impressed... this is my 3rd bottle. I was hoping for more, but was pretty underwhelmed.

Seems like an overly hopped dry stout if I was drinking it blind.

On tap at Beachwood BBQ & Brewing in Long Beach, CA.
Pours a murky brown with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Foamy dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa, and slight citrus zest aromas. Taste is much the same with cocoa and coffee flavors on the finish. There is a medium amount of roasty and hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with solid aroma and flavors.
