On tap at Sawmill Tap Room on 1/13/12.

Arrived a dark amber with no head. The nose had a significant citrus aroma that featured grapefruit primarily. The flavor is lightly malty and citrusy with a faint piney finish. The mouthfeel is a little thin but medium bodied overall with a good amount of carbonation making it a little crisp up front.

Overall, it’s not a bad IPA but rather one dimensional. The citrus dominates throughout and there isn’t much in the way of body or malt character. I enjoyed it, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to get it again.

I didnt get a good look at the beer; I should have taken a better look at it before consuming the thing.

It smells like a good West Coast IPA. loads of citrus and bittering hops. Malt backbone is about average.

Taste is actually impressive for a Carolina IPA. Bittering hops are nice, but the addition of aroma citric hops are a welcome addition to what could be a one-sided IPA.

12oz bottle into a Corsendonk tulip pours a crisp dark orange with a thin diminishing head. Aroma is pine hops in front of mild caramel malts. The taste is a nice blend of pine hops just overpowering the caramel malt backbone and leaving a nice slightly bitter finish. The beer is fairly light bodied with decent carbonation and a touch of dryness. This is an enjoyable IPA, but one I would likely pass over.

Sampled from a 12oz bottle in a DFH shaped pint glass. Purchased at the brewery.

A - Copper with great clarity and a sturdy beige head. Decent lacing as the glass empties.

S - A variety of hop aromas including pine, grass and citrus.

T - Pretty subdued with a tame citrusy bitterness followed by a bready, biscuit malt backbone. It starts OK but goes a bit flat after the initial burst. This is definitely an IPA for the masses; not for IPA lovers.

M - A silky, sturdy consistency with a nice low carbonation.

D - Easy enough to drink but not compelling enough to go back for more. It's a good beer and well worth a try but I was hoping for more on this one.
