Off tap at the brewpub this beer was a hazy copper color with one finger of khaki-colored head. The retention was good as a collar and the lacing moderate. The aroma was of sweet malt, wood and floral hops. The best aroma I detected out of any of their beers. But then... I drank it. The flavors were sour and skunky . It started ona wood note that wasn't so bad but it immediately went south from there into a highly tart and acidic flavor blended with a long smoky note and a finish that reminded me of an Oscar Meyer hot dog. It was like a peat-smoked lemon. Lordy. I was taken aback and disappointed after the aroma led me to believe I'd finally found their one good beer on tap. What the hell happened back there? I rarely slam a beer but this was just plain Fail. I can only imagine that something was skunking these beers upon my visit to the base because there is simply no way the brewer intended this combination of flavors. The mouthfeel was ok, the body medium and the carbonation average for the style.
