Just learned that Freeport Brewing Company has stopped bottling and will only be doing kegs, so I figured I'd better buy and try the stuff before they're all gone.

Pours a golden yellow color, small head that fades fast, leaves no lacing.

Smell is very bready, slight citrus/lemon aroma, not really much going on.

Taste catches me off-guard, I was expecting a more mild blonde ale and this hits with a strong citrusy sour bite, not quite to style but still rather refreshing, good amount of carbonation to complement the sourness.

Pours a nice, clean golden color with a nice white head. Lots of nice little bubbles in this one. Smell is bready, sweet, some hay but nothing too strong.

Taste is like a dry, pale lager. Its got a metallic aftertaste (maybe from the ring?) to go with some sweetness and citrus tastes. I am not a huge fan as this is simply a style that usually doesn't captivate me too much. Its a light tasting beer that I think could be a nice "crossover" beer for those that buy their beers in packs of thirty.

Purchased a bomber from the Wine Cellar in Freeport. It is a very hazy and murky dark gold color. A nice white head forms. Obviously unfiltered due to the murkiness. The aroma is strange, it has a malty sweetness to it but there is something else that I have a hard time putting my finger on. Finally I realized it was almost clovey and reminiscent of a hefe. What? In a beer with "biter" in its name? The taste is shocking. A massive sourness puckers your mouth immediately and won't let go. There's a small amount of malty sweetness in the background. It finishes sour with a hint of lemon. Why is this beer sour? Is it a lambic (no)? Does it have bret in it (no)? WTF?! How do you call a beer a "bitter blonde" and make it sour? Completely unsatisying, I only got though about 6 oz of the 22. The sourness prevents if from being drinkable in any way. I wondered if it was an ancient bottle (no date...surprise!), but apparently it's supposed to be sour. Whatever. The appearance is the only thing close to being within style and in any way good.

It's like licking a lemon. A sticky, candy lemon. Poured a murky gold in color with a white head that vanished very quickly. After a few minutes the beer begins to look flat--but the first sip is a burst of carbonation. As for flavor this beer is not very close to style. A deceptively heavy body. The tangy sourness of th strong lemons makes me think it is light but hafway through the bottle I start to feel it sitting in my gut. As well as a bit of a sickly twist in my belly. Malts quickly succumb to the extreme lemons and grass of the hops. As for hops... they are there. But it makes me think they used lemon skins rather than hops. While an interesting and unique beer, not all that sure this is appropriate for the style. As for drinkability? My belly hurts.

Pours an orange/brown with a low white head that quickly leaves nothing but a lasting lace. Smells like butterscotch. Tastes like a pleasant, light summer ale, perhaps, but, well, let me explain... You start off with all kinds of light and lemony flavors all over the front of the mouth. As you're swallowing it you go through a very brief moment of sour apricots but that is quickly followed and overpowered by a very strong butterscotch flavor that sticks around for a bit.
If taken as a summer ale - a palate cleanser, a refresher on those dog days of summer - it works great with a nice, very light mouth to it and it is highly drinkable (in those same hot conditions).

The Ex Wife Bitter Blonde Ale pours a yellowish orange hue with a half inch of bubbly white foam that lingers on the top of the brew. Active carbonation rushes up from the bottom of the glass. Pale sweet malty nose with some hints of lemony citrus. A hint of green citrus hops is also evident. Smells fresh but it's still a bit underwhelming.

First sip features a mellow pale maltiness that has a bit of a bready, lemony flavor to it. Sweet grains meld with a mellow creaminess. A slightly bitter green hop flavor rolls across the palate on the way down, with a slightly dry lingering sensation. Easy drinking, but it just doesn't do much for me flavor wise.

Mouthfeel is nice with a fast moving carbonation that I enjoy here. A brew that is easy to drink but fails to leave me wanting more. Works well when you're looking for a tasty, uncomplicated brew that is refreshing on a hot day.

The beer is a straw gold color, topped with a thin ring of head. Good clarity, with some blobby lacing as you drink it down.
Aroma is mostly a grainy pilsner maltiness, with mild grassy, herbal hops. A bit of a hay smell, with a breadiness very similar to wonder bread. Sweet and light. Minimal esters, with a sort of clean lagery feel.
Flavor starts out with a light pilsnery maltiness. The body is extremely light, almost nonexistent. A distinct wonder bread taste comes through in the middle, a dash of peach and pear somewhere in between, with some light herbal hops towards the end, and lingers into the aftertaste with some husky graininess. Carbonation is rather high, with a trace of butterscotchy diacetyl throughtout the sip.
Very light, with a lot of wierd off flavors that aren't so pleasant. I've definitely had better beers than this.
