Sampled from a 12oz bottle.

Poured a dark brown, with a 1/2 inch off-white head that fades fairly quickly. Leaves some lacing, but the lacing is quick to retreat.

Aromas of malt and not much else.

Taste: Hey boys and girls can you say "Newcastle"? I know you can, say it with me, "Newcastle, very dark Newcastle." But seriously folks this tastes and smells just like Newcastle, only much darker in color. I would imagine that if a homebrewer tried to clone Newcastle this is what they would get. Good and drinkable, but nothing out of the ordinary or eventful.

Poured with a fine tan head on top of a deep, dark red body. For a beer that looked as rich as it did it didn’t have too much in the nose. Some sweet, woody malt but that’s about it. This wasn’t a very “dark” tasting beer, but I’m glad it wasn’t. It was labeled as a brown, and a tasty brown it was. Surprisingly, it was kinda light in body, with a thin, plum-like sweetness. Extremely modest charcoal flavor was layered with toasted malt and a hint of cocoa. Hop contributions were limited to a barely detectable bitterness.

Good beer. Good brown. Different brown. I’m really glad I tried this and would buy it again if possible. It’s too bad I found this in PA (Shangy’s) where it was in a variety pack.

Dark brown with a full brown head and lots of carbonation then it was downhill from there. Very light sweet malt aroma (dark lager-ish aroma but not very strong). Overly sweet malt flavor without any distinctive characteristics. Had a harsh bite (oxidation?). Light-medium bodied (leans medium) and airy (over carbonated).

Hoping I got a bad bottle. I just bought it but it seemed old. It's a shame that the freshness date on the label was not marked. Will re-review if I ever taste a better bottle. If not, pass on this one.

THis beer has a very attractive deep brown color, with a nice, loose head. The smell is decent, but nothing inspiring. A lot of maltiness in the aroma. This is an excellent tasting beer, but no nut taste to speak of. It has a goo dmouthfeel and a smooth finish. It drinks very easy. A good beer, but not what I expected.

Again, I cannot figure this one out, hence the low marks. Rock Creek is an enigma wrapped in a puzzle sometimes. This beer is very brown and dark to the eye, which is fine, but the aroma and taste are not what I expected. I am certain they will improve on this. Prost!
