This beer poured a bright orange amber color. The head was small, which thinned out quickly. The look of this beer was the best thing going for it. I did not like this one too much. It’s definitely not in the current league of craft brewed IPA’s. This beer tastes and smells more fruity than anything. Like a scaled down version of their Red Ale, or even a vienna lager. There's nothing about the hops that stands out. There is a decent malt body, but it’s too fruity tasting and the beer needs more hop punch. I would pass on this one for a hundred better choices.

Light orange in color capped by a sustaining, dense, creamy head that displayed a bit of sticking power. Pineapple filled the nose leaving only a little room for some caramel. On random sips I was able to taste the alcohol, but it was only a minor distraction. Nice sweetness from light malt backed up by warm biscuits. This may sound like a healthy dose of malt, but it really wasn’t. The hopping of the brew left a lot to be desired. This was, for an IPA, one of the most grossly under hopped examples I’ve tasted. I now would rather see this beer with an “ESB” label (citrus nose would be strange, though) . It wasn’t bad, just disappointing.

poured clear and orange until i poured the sediment off the bottom of the btl.. i drank it both ways and should write two reviews. it was more crisp before i poured the sediment yet became truly "awake" with what i feel is the true properties of this beer. the head was ok and a little lace appeared on the glass, not entirely impressive indeed. however, this is a fruity and exciting ipa with some brown sugar and a burnt type of bitterness that lingers well. the aroma is also very nice and totally acompanys the flavor. i'd never drink this one from the bottle, it smells very good. it burps pretty well, but you kind of have to drink a whole bottle to get a big one. i look for these when it's time for a nice ipa in the near trade brew category, these have a tendency to get drunk around here so they're almost always super fresh!

the bottle i got says it was brewed in raliegh, nc. it tastes fresh here in sw virginia. thanks for reading my shitty review. next time i'll actually get drunk off the beer instead of just having 2 or 3, i'll have a better feel for it then!

Bronze with a low tan head which sticks but lace is minimal. Caramel-ish malt aroma. Caramel malt flavor dominates with a lower level of bitterness. Malt dominates the balance leaving it fairly sweet for an IPA. Medium bodied with a bitter finish.

I believe Rock Creek Brewing Co. is a Beer Marketing Co. out of Richmond, VA.

Cloudy, deep amber with an orangish cast, topped by a very creamy light tan head that drops to a very nice collar and great surface covering and holds well. The aroma is of brightly floral, grassy and citrusy hops over a sweet caramel maltiness - very nice! The body is medium with a very fine carbonation that leaves it quite creamy in the mouth, rounding out the flavors and adding smoothness to the character. The flavor starts with a lightly fruity, biscuity & caramel maltiness that warms to reveal toffee and even some vanilla flavor, then finishes with a grassy hop flavor that is quickly replaced by a lingering bitterness. Quite bold! Very full and rich. Enjoyable, and low enough in alcohol to have more than one. Well worth trying, and recommended!

Nice big malt to balance big floral/citrus hops. Not the best IPA, but far from the worst. The malt did little to detract from the power of the hops, but instead gave the beer a nice depth.

Pours a nice bright copper color with a good looking off white head that provides a nice lace. Nice smooth malty smell, once the beer warms, balances the aroma of the bittering hops. Tastes starts off with slightly fruity bitterness and gets a little more fruity and smooth as it warms. A nice creamy biscuity malt emerges as the brew reaches cellar temperature. Great creamy and smooth mouthfeel that remains rather crisp at the same time. Not quite as crisp as it should be though. This is one very drinkable brew that I could see myself consuming quite a bit of. Somewhat weak on the hops to be an IPA but a little to bitter to be a straight up pale as well. Nonetheless this is a very nice brew that would make for some great session drinking.

Not a bad IPA (but is there a bad one?). Rock Creek is on its way to getting much better with its brews, and this is a sign of that. It is pretty hoppy and aromatic. This is one that goes well with food, or without for that matter. Not overly hoppy, so it may actually disappoint HopHeads...I was a little let down by it. But I would drink it again in a second.

Pours a copper color with an off-white head that dies quickly but leaves a thin lace.On the nose there is a mild floral hop aroma as well as citrus through out. Mouth feel is relatively smooth. On the palate there is slight toffee tones, a citrus hop flavor, a little fruity, maybe orange peels… all pretty well together. Overall an enjoyable I.P.A.
